Television Nominations
August 23, 2012
The hard work and creativity of the TV Production and Media Management program and DUTV have received terrific recognition in recent weeks. DNEWS, the student produced news magazine on all things Drexel, won a bronze Telly award for their special edition on the Academy of Natural Sciences. The episode covered many aspects of the Academy, including an interview with Academy President George W. Gephart, Jr, an interview with Professor Ken Lacovara showcasing his fieldwork hunting dinosaur fossils, the new Department of Biodiversity, Earth and Environmental Science (BEES), and a special behind-the-scenes look at many of the Academy's one of a kind collections. Drexel students Alexa Fuentes, Ian Jabour, Sam Moskowitz and Dennis Mullen worked on this special episode. In addition hosts, Rich Mach, Courtney Thomas (associate producer), Maria Papadakis (associate producer) and staff members Jess Travers (associate producers) and Chelsea O'Rourke (DP/Editor) contributed with Dave Culver and Marty Zeid as faculty advisors.
The Telly award-winning episode was also nominated for a National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) award for Best College Production Newscast. NATAS is the Emmy granting organization and in addition to our nomination for DNEWS, OFF CAMPUS 3 has been nominated for Best College Student Production in the long form: Fiction/Non Fiction category. Last year, OFF CAMPUS 2 took home the award in this category. The winners will be announced this fall and we congratulate professor Andrew Susskind and all the students and faculty involved in the production for this terrific nomination.
